The eastern oyster of North Carolina’s waters has long been a staple for human diets. The fishery has seen its ups and downs with the hey-day occurring more than a century ago. Come learn about this interesting bi-valve and the resource as a historic fishery that can hopefully make a come-back some day.

Featured North Carolina Brewery of the Month: Crystal Coast Brewing Company of Atlantic. Stop by the pub and grab a free sample flight. You’ll taste the beers they'll be featuring that month, plus one or two wild cards.

The 8th Annual Outer Banks Seafood Festival will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Soundside event site in Nags Head (3800 S. Croatan Hwy, MP 16.5). This event will feature 12 local restaurants serving some of the best local seafood found on the OBX. Craft beer, Beer, Wine and beverages will also be available. What does Pamlico County have a lot of? Shrimp! Join us for the very first Shrimp Cook-Off featuring some of Pamlico County's best cooks. Participants will get to sample different shrimp recipes and choose the best by voting for the People's Choice Awards.
A limited number of tickets are available for this event, so get your tickets early. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes a sample of shrimp from each team, beverage and a variety of desserts to choose from.
This event is also introducing Pamlico Catch, our region's newest seafood "catch' group who want to make sure local seafood has a place at your table and who just want to support a strong local fishing economy. Come join the community at the Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market’s Sea to Table Dinner to be held on the evening of October 10th at 6 PM on the beautiful deck at Harborside Park overlooking Taylor’s Creek on Front St. in Beaufort. Come early to mingle with guests, beer and wine included, and dine under the white market tents at sunset.
The menu will feature dishes created by Chef Jon McGregor of Clawson’s, from the freshest locally caught seafood, including shrimp, scallops, and fish, and cool weather vegetables and greens from our farmers. The market bakers will add delicious wood-fired baked bread and homemade Down East lemon pie to complement this generous meal. Live music from Hank Barbee and the Dust Parade will help to create an evening event that you don’t want to miss!
